What Is Greenhaven

Greenhaven is a proposed new city for creation in Unincorporated DeKalb County.

In 2019, proponents are trying for the fifth year to obtain General Assembly approval for this proposed city. Four previous attempts have failed.

After the City of Atlanta, proposed Greenhaven would be the second largest city in the state of Georgia.

We must be as relentless in defeating Greenhaven legislation as proponents are in trying to push on unsuspecting citizens. Sign our Petition and be counted as someone opposed to creating this city.

Who Is Promoting This New City

Proponents operate under different names, and there seems to be a lack of transparency as to who is funding and driving the promotion of Greenhaven to pay Carl Vinson Institute over $25,000 for a Feasibility Study and hire the law firm of Hall Booth and Smith over $10,000 to lobby legislators in the Georgia General Assembly.

Organizations collaborating and coordination on creating the proposed City of Greenhaven include:

  • South DeKalb Improvement Association (SDIA)
  • Concerned Citizens for Cityhood for South DeKalb (CCCSD changed name to Imagine Greenhaven)
  • Greenhaven Business Alliance (GBA)
  • Imagine Greenhaven – New name for group formally known as CCCSD and leads on the cityhood movement
  • Officers serve on multiple boards of these organizations

 

  • Plans are underway introduce a new bill in 2019 for a fifth bite of the apple
  • Imagine Greenhaven hired lobbyists to convince legislators to sponsor this bill and/or vote to approve this new city.
  • The resulting impact is that your property taxes will increase.
